Health Coaching
HMS is an industry leader in health coaching for lifestyle-related issues in both primary (health promotion) and secondary (disease management) prevention. HMS staff use coaching techniques based on current behavior change models/theories, emphasizing the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is an evidence-based approach that has demonstrated efficacy in brief interventions across diverse populations for a variety of health issues.
HMS has demonstrated measurable results (pdf) from our health coaching interventions, including significant increases in both mental and physical health status. Our health coaching services are recommended for moderate to high risk employees/members. Motivational Interviewing-based health coaching (pdf) is especially effective for individuals who are more resistant, less ready, less motivated, or non-compliant to their treatment plan.
